On Thursday 7th April our Lower School student bands took to the stage for their first performance of 2016. It was our first chance to hear our new year 7 students and what a debut it was with three bands wowing the audience with there musical prowess and enthusiastic stage presence. Year 8 and 9 bands showed us what they have achieved this term and there is clearly lots to look forward to this year.
The Senior Bands played the first Showcase this term on Wednesday 6th April and even though many of these students are getting quite experienced there were lots of nerves before evening began. The bands played well and demonstrated how their confidence on stage has grown over recent years. Deputy Principle Neil Freckelton commented that "it is a genuine pleasure to see how much these students have progressed".
IT IS HERE!!!
9 months ago it was just the beginning of an idea, this weekend our students will perform on it for the first time. Phase One of our Solar Stage was delivered to the school on Thursday afternoon and today we got to see it opened up ahead of Sunday's inaugural performance at the Growers Green Markets. Phase one has been built entirely using funds raised by Music Parents and from Music Program performances over the last few years and with the extremely generous donation of time from a small number of parents.
A few people pitched in to get us this far but special acknowledgment must go to Steve Fisher who has given an incredible amount of time and effort to build the trailer entirely from scratch. The quality of Steve's work and the care he has put into this project are clear for all to see and there is no way we could have got this far without him. Our sincere thanks go to Steve and all those who have contributed for making this dream a reality!
Our senior bands will be performing on the stage on Sunday (3rd April) from 9:30am - 11:30am at the Growers Green Markets; please come down and have a look at the stage and support the bands. There is of course, lots more to do in the next phases of this project and Jeff Burge (Solar Stage Project Coordinator) will be available on Sunday to answer any questions you may have and take details of anyone who can offer help.
