Head of Specialist Music, Mr Gowland described the purpose of this event as an opportunity to "give some of the best students in the program a platform to perform as soloists in front of their school community."
The performances were well received by the audiences and, according to Acting Principal Mr Neil Freckelton, "it was very good to see so many of the music students performing for and supported by their school community; real learning anchored in a real experience. That's what it's all about".
Year nine student, Loche Hopper, reflecting on his performance, said, "I felt pretty good but I missed 4 bars of my song. With a bit more practice I could have played a bit better. I'll practice more next time".
The Solo Performance series aims to extend students playing by selecting the strongest pieces from the solo performance exams for presentation to the school community.
