On the 7th of May South’s senior Music students visited the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Students explored post high school options; for many, widening their knowledge and re-thinking their goals.
Students explored the campus and visited lectures and rehearsals seeing how the WAAPA students learned. Following the campus tour lectures included a composing class a music education lecture, and a band rehearsal. It was an interesting to see could be achieved in a music program such as the WAAPA program.
Many of the South Students were excited and inspired to pursue a tertiary education after High school and to continue on with their music education. The students learnt a lot from the experience making the day an overall success.
“Visits like this make a Music pathway a more real option. Students see where, how and what happens in a tertiary learning environment. It helps them imagine the possibility”.
