Year 11 Media students recently produced their own versions of current affairs stories as part of their ATAR Media course.
The Brief? Produce a 3-5 minute current affairs style story on one aspect of the Music ASP.
We researched and developed our stories prior to the Music-Media camp earlier this term.
While on camp we recorded most of our raw material and, on returning to school, shot our leads and completed the editing.
There were three groups and each one covered a different aspect of the music program, with stories ranging from Catalyst For Change, South Music to On the Music Camp.
On camp we spent time each day recording and photographing audio and visual material; which included writing and recording interviews, stand-ups and leads. On top of this we had to keep our log books up to date.
The production gave us an insight into how much time and patience it takes to manage a simple production. Our group's production, Catalyst for Change, explored the evolution of the Music program.
The group was unanimous in its response. “The production was great fun, even with hurdles and a short time frame”, said one of the class members when reflecting on the challenge.
